Racer X Design BMW RZ-M6

January 16, 2009

When BMW rolled out the new 6 Series coupe in 2003, it reconnected with a nameplate that had laid dormant for some 14 years. The original 6-Series, produced between 1976 and 1989, earned itself a cult following and iconic status, epitomized by the 635CSi. Some apparently feel that the current 6 doesn’t pay enough homage to the original. The people at Racer X Design count themselves in that camp, and are evidently hoping there are more like-minded enthusiasts… with cash.

Racer X Design has caught our attention before with some arresting concepts, including the KC-427 and…… Continue reading

Ford has just announced pricing on the 2010 Lincoln MKT we saw earlier this week at the Detroit Auto Show. The Ford Flex’s massive brother will go on sale this summer for a starting price of $44,995 with the base V6 and front-wheel-drive. EcoBoost and all-wheel drive together add five grand to that total, so prices for the premium model start at $49,995. You can get AWD by itself though, along with the base 3.7L, at $46,990. While all MKTs will come with tons of standard features, the company is also offering a few… Continue reading

Toyota reveals new TF109

January 14, 2009

Following Ferrari’s unveiling of its new F60, Toyota is the second team to release its new challenger for the 2009 Formula One season. Called the TF109, it’s the only automobile unveiled exclusively on the internet without a public reveal. Of course, looking at it, you could paint the remaining white panels red (and move the wing mirrors to the sidepods) and it would look pretty much like Ferrari’s. That’s because all the vehicles have to conform to the same set of new rules, so it was back to the drawing… Continue reading

January 13, 2009

Alpine has had iPod compatibility for years, but the user interface has been decidedly un-Apple. Alpine hopes to rectify matter with its new touch-screen iXA-W404 unit works, which boasts a new interface, new features and all the connected goodies audiophiles on the move require.

iPod and iPhone owners will notice that the Alpine’s 4.3-inch, touch-screen face displays album art of the current song, and the names of the next two and most current songs played. Song selection can be made from an alphabetical list just as on the iPod Touch and iPhone or by flipping through… Continue reading

We all know the drill. You see a speed camera, you slow down, you look at the camera, you check your speedometer and look for the camera again. But in the UK at least, reports now indicate that nearly half of the 1,000 speed cameras installed are entirely inactive.Because many of the cameras installed in the UK during the 1990s failed to meet transportation department criteria for… Continue reading

Raising Arizona: Danica gets another speeding ticket

January 1, 2009

Some people we’ll just never understand. Like those who’ll look at a high-performance sports car and ask, “But where are you going to drive it?” Or the cops in Scottsdale, Arizona, who have given a speeding ticket to Danica Patrick yet again.

Never mind that for many police officers, a pretty girl batting her eyes would be enough to, um, get off…with a warning. And Danica’s a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, for crying out loud. But the IRL’s… Continue reading
